By Mamoun's Falafel · Updated October 23, 2026

Feeding a group is easy to get wrong. Someone is vegan. Someone needs halal. Someone is gluten-free, and everyone is tired of the same sandwich platter. Since 1971, Mamoun's Falafel has been solving that problem one pita at a time, first from a tiny counter on MacDougal Street and now from locations across New York and New Jersey.

This guide to Mamoun's falafel catering prices in NYC and New Jersey lists what every tray costs, what comes in it, how much to order for your group, and how to place an order for an office lunch, birthday, game night, graduation, or holiday party.

Short answer: Mamoun's falafel catering in NYC starts at $29.50 for a 30-piece falafel tray and $37.50 for a 10-pack of falafel sandwiches. Party platters that feed 6 to 8 are $79.50 for vegetarian and $115 for meat, and build-your-own sandwich stations that feed about 24 run $110 to $140. Those prices are from the East Village store's online menu in October 2026 and vary by location. All meat is certified halal, and the falafel, hummus, baba ganouj, grape leaves, and seasoned rice are vegan and gluten-free. Order online for pickup or delivery from six locations in New York and New Jersey, or email catering@mamouns.com.

2. What Comes in Each Tray

The catering menu has six categories, and most items come with pita, tahineh sauce, and Mamoun's famous hot sauce on the side.

Party Platters (feeds 6 to 8)

Each party platter arrives in a 16-inch, six-compartment catering tray with 8 oz of tahineh sauce, 2 oz of hot sauce, 12 quartered pitas, and a portion of pickles, pickled turnips, and olives.

  • Vegetarian Platter. Falafel, hummus, baba ganouj, tabbouleh, and stuffed grape leaves. Vegetarian and vegan.
  • Meat Platter. Lamb shawarma, chicken kebob, and your choice of two vegetarian items. All meat is certified halal.

This is the easiest order for a small team lunch or a family gathering. Set it in the middle of the table and let everyone build their own plate.

Sandwich Trays (10 or 24 pack)

Half-pita sandwiches dressed with lettuce, tomatoes, and onions, served with tahineh and hot sauce on the side.

  • Falafel Tray. Finely ground chickpeas with onions, parsley, garlic, and spices, fried to order.
  • Chicken Kebob Tray. Marinated cubes of chicken breast, skewered and grilled.
  • Shawarma Tray. Rotisserie-cooked lamb, thinly sliced and seasoned with signature spices.
  • Assorted Tray. Mix and match falafel, chicken, and shawarma in a 10 or 24 pack.

Sandwich trays are the best choice when guests will be eating standing up or grabbing food between meetings.

Sandwich Stations (feeds about 24)

A station is a build-your-own setup. Each one comes with a salad tray of lettuce, tomatoes, and onions, 18 halved pitas, two 12 oz containers of tahineh, and a 4 oz container of hot sauce. That works out to roughly 36 half sandwiches.

  • Falafel Station. About 75 pieces of falafel.
  • Chicken Kebob Station. About 100 pieces of grilled chicken.
  • Shawarma Station. About 4 lbs of sliced lamb shawarma.

Stations are ideal for larger offices, open houses, and parties where people arrive at different times.

Side Trays

  • Falafel Tray. 30 pieces with a 12 oz container of tahini sauce.
  • Hummus or Baba Ganouj Tray. Garnished with paprika, onions, tomatoes, pickles, turnips, olives, and olive oil, with 12 quartered pitas. About 12 servings. You can also split it half hummus, half baba ganouj.
  • Tabbouleh Tray. Bulgur wheat salad with mint, parsley, garlic, onions, and peppers over lettuce. About 8 servings.
  • Seasoned Rice Tray. Made with Mamoun's own spice blend. About 8 servings.
  • Seasoned Fries Tray. With garlic sauce or ketchup. About 6 servings.

Baklava and Gallon Drinks

  • Walnut Baklava. Layers of filo dough stuffed with walnuts, about 40 pieces per tray.
  • Specialty Drinks by the gallon. Mint Lemonade, Mango, Tamarind, or Mamoun's Iced Tea, which is unsweetened black tea brewed with cardamom.

Sauces and Fresh Pita

Add extra hot sauce, tahineh sauce, or garlic sauce in 4, 8, or 12 oz containers, and extra bags of pita baked fresh that morning. If your group loves heat, order more hot sauce than you think you need. It is the thing people ask about.

3. How Much Should You Order?

Plan on two to three half sandwiches per person for a full lunch, plus one side tray for every 8 to 10 guests. For a snack or appetizer spread, one half sandwich per person with a hummus tray and a falafel tray goes a long way. These are general planning guidelines based on the portion counts Mamoun's lists for each item, not an official serving recommendation.

5. Something for Every Guest: Halal, Vegan, and Gluten-Free

This is where Mamoun's makes a planner's life easier.

  • Halal. All chicken and lamb served at Mamoun's is certified halal. That means no pork or pork products, and animals raised without antibiotics or growth hormones. The certificates are posted on the Mamoun's halal page. Mamoun's is halal certified, not kosher, so it is not the right fit for a group that needs kosher catering.
  • Vegan. Falafel, hummus, baba ganouj, tabbouleh, grape leaves, seasoned rice, and seasoned fries are all vegan. So are the hot sauce and tahineh sauce. The one thing to skip is the garlic sauce, which is not vegan.
  • Gluten-free. Falafel, hummus, baba ganouj, grape leaves, seasoned rice, chicken kebob, and shawarma are gluten-free. Guests who avoid gluten can skip the pita and build a plate from the platter items. Tabbouleh contains bulgur wheat, and baklava contains both gluten and walnuts.

For a mixed group, a Vegetarian Platter next to a Chicken Kebob Station covers almost every diet in the room.

8. A Little History Worth Sharing at the Table

Mamoun's opened in the heart of Greenwich Village in 1971. It is the oldest falafel restaurant in New York and one of the first Middle Eastern restaurants in the United States. The restaurant has been family owned and operated from the beginning, and the original MacDougal Street location is still open today.

Back in 1976, The Village Voice wrote that "Kissinger could take a lesson in diplomacy here," noting that people from every background were eating side by side at the same table. Fifty years later, that is still the point. Good food brings a room together.

Everything is still made from scratch using fresh, natural ingredients, imported spices, and the same signature recipes. The pita is baked fresh in-house every day. Those are the same falafel, shawarma, and hummus that landed Mamoun's on Rachael Ray's list of her ten favorite restaurants in the country.
